Get to Know Me
Gerard Kuhn, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician. He is an advocate for early literacy. He serves on the board of the Juvenile Diabetes °µÍøTV Foundation (JDRF).
Why I Treat Children
I discovered during medical school that I enjoyed taking care of children most of all. I like being a part of helping families take care of their children’s health and watching them grow. I prefer the broad spectrum of pediatrics, which is why I went into primary care. I care about the quality of medical care children receive on a daily basis.
What I'm Passionate About
I’m passionate about educating and coaching families in certain areas of childhood health that need attention. Childhood obesity is an example, where I help families understand the importance of healthy eating and exercise — and doing as both as a family.Another passion of mine would be helping families recognize the importance of early literacy. Again, this is a family activity. Children want to learn, and parents play a big part in that early learning by introducing books. I’m involved with Reach Out and Read.
How I Try to Make A Difference
I’m involved with community service, like serving on the board of the Juvenile Diabetes °µÍøTV Foundation to help lend some medical expertise. I’m also on the board of the Friends of the National Library of Medicine.
